Frames Style and suitability cha

All frames are individually made to order in our own workshops using industry standard Morso Mitre cutters, Wizard computerised mount cutters, and Alfamacchine pneumatic joining equipment for professional finish and fine art trade guild quality. All frames are fitted with styrene safety acrylic glazing. This has a plastic protective cover you simply peel away before inserting your picture. Syrene is far safer than glass, and optically you will not notice any difference. The proper picture grade product we use does not fade or yellow.

We have been making bespoke frames for approx 15 years, up to 15,000 frames per year for our retail shop customers, trade customers, galleries and artists, including artists in the Royal Academy, Tate and Royal Society. Other customers include BBC departments, Formula One teams, Insurance Companies, we have shipped regular orders to: Museum of science and industry, Film companies, shipping companies and 1000s of customers all over the country who buy individual frames and mounts, and come back to us for more.

We make frames "to fit" whatever size you give us -eg. if you have a picture (or a mount) which measures 120mm x 400 mm, we will make a frame to fit your picture, which will have a small allowance for ease of fit (this is hidden by the rebate at the edge of the frame). If you order a mount from our online shop or custom mount order page and it is the same size, we will ship the mount in the frame to you. There are some sizes we cannot ship - approx over 1 metre, or to some destinations. The order form page will simply clear the size boxes if you enter a size we cannot ship to UK mainland.

Everything we sell (subject to returns conditions) has a 7 day full refund if you are not 100 percent delighted. This guarantee comes in writing with your packing slip.

Polcore frames are a polymer alternative to timber. Classic wood frames have a finish applied at the factory, so these are very consistent, and Executive range frames, football shirt frames and medal cases are all made from solid wood, stained and finished and hand wax polished (if these are ordered as an option) in our own workshops.

Note that on timber frames the finish can vary, timber is a natural product with unique grain patterns, so no two frames are identical. If you order more than one frame we will give you the best match of timbers we can.

Delivery is quoted at 7 working days before we ship. this does not include weekends or public holidays. But having said that we frequently ship within one (next day) to 4 days. If your order is particularly urgent, or you have a deadline, please phone us and we will be pleased to let you know how quickly we can complete your order.

Availability: we list ONLY the frame mouldings which we keep as "regular stock" and which are usually always available on our weekly stock deliveries, so if we do run out of any particular item, it will be back in stock in a week at the latest.

Please note the above are GUIDELINES - you are welcome to order any sample pieces to check for yourself against the item(s) you want framed - to order samples simply leave the custom frame order form sizes blank, and we will cut and send a small sample piece of any frame moulding for a £1 cutting and handling charge. as a rule the value range of frames, being made of polymer resin are not suitable for very large or very long frames as they are not as rigid as the equivalent timber items.

*this is a "scroll clip" usually for case frames, frames for canvasses, or frames in which you want to frequently change the contents.

Regular picture frames come with a different style of fitting: (below) These are flexitab fittings that you are probably very familiar with in photo and certificate frames, a simple "bend over" tab inserted at regular intervals around a glazed frame's back to hold the back in. Great for inserting your picture, photo or certificate.
